Did You Know?
Wor. Bro. William John Scott
Did you know one of our Lodge’s charter members passed away suddenly while leading the congregation in prayer at Twillingate’s North Side United Church? Wor. Bro. William John Scott (1859-1927) served as the Craft’s first Junior Warden, and went on to be installed as WM. Bro. Scott first came to Twillingate as an employee of William Waterman and Company, later going into business on his own account. He served as a stipendiary magistrate at Twillingate from about 1910 to 1919. Bro. Scott retired at Curling in 1926, the year before his death. As well as a Freemason, Bro. Scott was active with the Loyal Orange Order and the Sons of Temperance.
